A weekend escape from Bali’s bustling activities and traffic jams. Board our project partners’ Sea Trek’s schooner Katherina on Saturday morning in Amed, east Bali, for a weekend cruise to the small islands stretched out along Lombok’s west coast where pristine tranquility surrounded by crystal-clear, turquoise seas is the set environment.
On board you will be treated to freshly prepared meals and sip the best cocktails east of Bali, as well as enjoying a fantastic barbecue on the beach at Dharma-Gili while the Southern Cross blinks over the bonfire. A weekend of sailing, scenery, sea activities and relaxation to fuel your batteries for a long time to come.

8:30 a.m. Meet at Café Batujimbar, Sanur, (South Bali). From here we go by minibus or coach to Amed, (North-East Bali), passing beautiful rice terraces and steep valleys rarely frequented on regular Bali tours. After boarding Katharina and settling in, we set sail to Gili Trawangan*, Northwest Lombok. Arriving at approx. 2.30 p.m. we will take a swim and snorkel, or you can enjoy a ride with a local horse cart as there are no motorized vehicles allowed. Late afternoon we will sail to Nara Bay, Lombok where an a la carte dinner served with chilled Rose wine will be served on deck before a quiet night at anchor.
Sunday
After breakfast prepared by Katharina’s Chef, enjoy a full day tour of Lombok including opportunities to see the tropical rain forest, watch the production of palm sugar, visit a local pasar (market) and two original Sasak villages where we will be welcomed by the local ‘brass band’ and admire the local hand weaving and pottery. Lunch will be enjoyed at a local restaurant.
Around 3.30 p.m. we will re-embark the Katharina in the small harbour of Lembar, Southwest Lombok, and sail to the islslet of Gili Tangkong (Dharma Gili.) In this private paradise we will spend the rest of the afternoon and evening, exploring the beaches, drinking fresh coconut milk and enjoying in splendid isolation a seafood barbecue as the sun sets over Bali’s volcanoes to the west of the Island and the moon rises over Lombok to the East. The night will be spent at anchor in the bay just of Dharma-Gili.
Monday
Early birds may enjoy the sun rising over Lomboks Mount Rinjani Volcano. When skies are clear, a view of both the Agung volcano on Bali and the Rinjani volcano on Lombok can sometimes be seen. Breakfast will be served onboard before an opportunity and go snorkeling between Dharma-Gili and Gili Nanggu, the adjacent island. Later we set sail headed for the island of Nusa Lembongan, off East Bali. Arriving at approx. 2.30 p.m. just as the day trippers from Bali depart. We will stop off the North tip of the island to explore the local mangrove forests and see how sea weed is being processed for export. After a last swim or snorkel, we have sailto the harbour of Benoa, Southeast Bali, where will say farewell to the crew and have our individual transfer back to hotel or airport.
